second

I was at your house, waiting for you to come home
The house was in a different neighborhood,
it was in a cul-de-sac

These dogs used to be mine,
I couldn’t remember their names

I kept pulling guns from my waistband,
I never owned them

There were dark clouds and the rain started
I had to shut the open windows

Your car appeared in the driveway,
but backed out when you saw me

Some of the windows wouldn’t stay closed,
all of the hardware was shattered

Rain was falling in the kitchen,
it was coming through the skylight
I looked for the rod to close it but it was gone
Water poured through the walls

These dogs, they looked familiar
